Rangers is the second-most successful club in world football in terms of trophies won, behind only Egyptian club Al Ahly. The club has won the Scottish League title 54 times, a domestic league joint world record, the Scottish Cup 33 times, the Scottish League Cup a record 27 times and the domestic treble on seven occasions, a joint world record shared with rivals Celtic. Rangers won the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1972 after being losing finalists twice, in 1961 and 1967. A third runners-up finish in European competition came in the UEFA Cup in 2008.

It was the season 2011-2012 when Rangers were regaleted to the fourth tier of Scottish Football Leaguea because of the financial crisis. since then the club earned 3 promotions in 4 years returning to the Premiership for the start of the 2016–17 season. While in the Scottish lower divisions, Rangers became the only club in Scotland to have won every domestic trophy. After returning to Premiership the team failed to win the league four years in a row finishing after their eternal rivals Celtic Glasgow how won the title the last four years. But the reign of Celtic looks like its over now with Rangers and Steven Gerrard is returing on top of the Scottish League with a lead of 21 points against their city rivals Celtic having the best attack of the league (59 goals) and the best defence (6 goals). With this crazy rythem Steven Gerrard man are surely wining their first title after 10 years of wait with former Liverpool legend to win his first League Title as a Manager.
