Top 10 biggest spending football clubs in the last 5 years

1. Juventus – €1.00bn

Out of all the football clubs in Europe, Juventus have usually made some decent decisions in the transfer market. They’re even famed for signing quality players for nothing.

But the Bianconeri clearly aren’t afraid to splash the cash either following their €112m capture of Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018.

Gonzalo Higuain also cost them €90m when he agreed to join them from Serie A rivals Napoli in 2016. While Matthijs de Ligt arrived in Turin last summer for a whopping €85m from Ajax.

The only way Juventus will ever be able to justify spending €1.00bn on new recruits, though, is by winning the Champions League. Only time will tell if that will ever happen in the near future.
